Dennis Richmond Retires After A Prestigious 40 Year Long Career

After spending 40 years in television and building a prestigious career as a co-anchor, Dennis Richmond retires. The star of the Oakland based KTVU who is also a Vietnam war veteran, started his career at KTVU on April 23rd 1968.
Although his first job was a clerk typist, he started being anchor 1976. Some of his famous partners include Barbara Simpson from 1978 to 1986, Elaine Corral from 1996 to 1998, Leslie Griffith from 1998 to 2006 and Julie Haener as his latest co-anchor.
His retirement was an emotional one, with a few tears being shed during his last appearance. “You’ve invited me into your home for so many years that I feel like I’m part of your family and leaving that family is not the easiest thing to do”, is what Dennis Richmond said to his audience.
His calm and rich baritone delivery is what made Dennis Richmond one of the most trusted and respected personalities for the news audience in the Bay Area. On many occasions, he was also named the most popular anchor in many viewer polls.
